Welcome to Rocks New Zealand

Welcome to Rocks New Zealand @RocksNZ

Our Facebook group was created as we found we needed to join so many individual NZ regional rock groups to try and follow our rocks around and it just started to overtake the news feed. So why not have a group that anyone can add any New Zealand rock too??

So lets keep it simple!!

If you are a Hunter/Finder:

You've found a painted rock and would like to share it?
You can post it into this group - you will need to join up first

Tips when posting to the group:
  • Please say where you found the rock
  • If the back of the rock has a hashtag or name on the back please add it to your post so the artist can see their rock travel around
Example:
You may find something like this on the back #RocksNZ #Pascoerocks.
This is telling you the location of the artist as they are a member of the #RocksNZ group and the artist is #pascoerocks.

Please always be a tidy kiwi when you are out and about hunting for rocks. Think about the environment. Do not hide rocks where you have to walk into a garden bed as this can damage the plants and keep in mind little hands will need to be able to reach them.

If you are a painter:

Please feel free to share your creations to our Facebook Group whether they are going out to be hidden or are a personal hobby, we like to see all painted rocks.

Feel free to share what you used to paint your rocks, types of paint, pens, what clear coat etc you use. As there really is no right or wrong way to paint a rock.

However, there are many preferred methods to help prolong your masterpiece when it is released into the wild.

But please think about the environment when making a rock, embellishments can fall off and can be consumed by birds and children.
